Here, that level of gas taxes is not a hypothetical that might pass... ours is already 66.98 cents per gallon, and the price at the pump is dancing on 5 dollars. We have our budget surplus now, but with no discernible improvement in road quality.
The new infrastructure money will hopefully fill in our massive pothole problem and not all go to porky projects. The high gas taxes hit the rural areas the hardest, which is perhaps the goal in WA? Lots of red counties in rural Washington states, I imagine.
Urban areas are perfect for electric vehicles, but not as attractive in remote areas. Does your state have a plan on how to have electric vehicles pay their share of the road budget? That should be addressed in any new legislation.
