Watch for the NDX 5 day RSI to get into an oversold condition. Then jump in to the Nasdaq (if nasdaq) stocks you want. JMHO

May I suggest some "core issues", MRK is in buying range ($44) and so is JNJ at $49 or so, so is SKX ($7.50), TBL at $50.50 to $51.5 with a stop just under $49.50. If you are looking for a higher risk/reward, BSTE at $25 (with a stop at $24.50) might give you some thrills. PNRA here at $40 with a stop of $38 is also interesting. I would wait about two three weeks, since I have a cycle low on expiry and a nasty early next week.

In edit and that second TEVA went again here at $56.89 for another bucker plus ($1.03), daily double bucker on that one.

Look at gold, silver, copper, etc. miners. Gold is still in a bull market. When doing DD pay attention to cost of production.
I avoid hedged miners and So.Africans.

Here's an interesting play you might want to look into, #msg-1653127 It's something you would need to do in a taxable account so you could do the margin thing and get the tax advantages. If you can get 24% a year you're doubling your money about every 3 yrs. The play appears to be a combination of the price of natural gas, and wether they are replacing their reserves. When they run out, they liquidate them, but the price of the stock should have gone to about zero by then any way. Part of the dividend is considered a return of your money, that's why they are so high, but if they are able to keep replenishing their reserves at a reasonable cost, then you have a money maker. Or if the price of natural gas goes up. They really aren't something for a daytrader like me, but if look back over the last few days, people have been throwing out suggestions of ones to buy.

Ask DaveZ about it, he use to be in the biz.

Suggestions for DD

I'll be doing my own DD on any recommendations anyone cares to send my way, so if you suggest something, I buy it, and I lose money on it, I'll only point fingers at me.

I'd suggest CACS if it can break from its haevy resistance at $10
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=1460

It has had a huge run so stops might be in order.

Otherwise, watch for a correction to its 20 DMA for entry below $10 (at about 7.5 now)

Good luck and welcome back!

in edit- listen to the conference call and see if you think management is on the ball. I do but I've been wrong before... more than once too!

Anybody doing "longer" term investing (as opposed to daytrading) needs to learn how to do stock screens. I'm a daytrader so have only taken a mild passing interest and haven't learned the ins and outs of running screens. This one which turned up mostly boring unheard of stocks, is up 128% since 1/2000. Hey Larry, yeah you Dudash, this sort of thing should interest you. But instead of doing TA screens, it's doing FA screens and then determining which FA screens give the best results over time.

Here's a growth strategy that has worked well in both up and down markets.

Marc Gerstein
Director of investment research ReutersInvestor

Some Wall Street adages are generally valid. Others are questionable. Here's a good adage: growth strategies tend to work well in bull markets. Now, here's one that may not be quite as solid as many assume: growth strategies are dangerous in bear markets. Many who pursue this style do, indeed, get hit especially hard during lean times such as the past three years. But throughout this period, the ReutersSelect Relative Growth screen has flourished.

The key to this screen is the word "relative." It describes how we determine whether a particular growth rate is good enough to warrant our attention. For the most part, we compare growth trends to industry averages and to historic experience. Our goal is to find companies that have been better than peers and that have been improving over time. Here are the tests used in this screen:

Click on over, http://dai.multexinvestor.com/Article.aspx?docid=2821&target=screeningmarket&nd=1101_DAI_AAC.... to get all the details. It's got two tables comparing it's preformance to the S&P, +128% vs. -24% from 1/2000 - 10/2003, and three tables of current picks plus mini writeups on 5 of the picks.
