Sound familiar at all?

Sadly yes. It was somewhat a question I knew the answer to. I had a co-worker in the UK and we'd chat every once in a while about politics. He'd give me a hard time after we elected Trump. Of course I gave it back to him after they elected Johnson.

The problem for the UK is the country is not big enough to support a populist movement aka go it alone. And for that matter neither is the USA as evidenced by our supply chain issues.

Neither the USA or UK can manufacture everything we need.

I checked with a few people who might have known Scion and regrettably as we suspected he has passed away.

I really wish I had gotten the chance to meet him as I was planning to visit Ireland and hoped I could have hooked up with the 2 of you. I think that would have been enjoyable.

Perhaps if I do get to visit this summer we can hoist a beer to him in his memory.

As one person replied to me who knew him,

The world has lost a magnificent gentleman!!!!

I considered him a friend and mentor if that is possible in today's world and I will miss him.

I have notified admin of his passing.

Thanks.

sunspotter, And the press, eh. Surprised you didn't mention Murdoch

Many sources say Murdoch had a relatively major influence in the Brexit vote.

Even the Murdoch press is now waking up to the truth: Brexit was an act of self-harm

When the most anti-EU newspapers are pointing to the policy’s inevitable failures, it’s time our government admitted the truth

[...] ...It may take time. Brexit took 43 years. Initially, that process began slowly. It picked up pace and virulence with the acquisition of major newspapers by Rupert Murdoch and Conrad Black, and with the replacement of David English, a staunch European, with Paul Dacre at the Daily Mail.
