#384254 RE: KMBJN #384169

The only reason I entered this discussion was because calling mRNA vaccines "gene therapy" is not only technically wrong, it confuses the public. And then some people get confused and turn antivax, thinking you are tinkering with their DNA, turning them into sheep.

Based on your responses here, you are not even trying anymore.

So this will be my last response to this thread.

My question: "What is the definition of "gene?" Is mRNA in that definition?"

Your non-answer: "Yes mRNA is considered genetic material."

Correct answer Genes are arranged, one after another, on structures called chromosomes. A chromosome contains a single, long DNA molecule,

You said:

Gene therapy does not alter DNA. It inserts genetic material into cells in a non integrating fashion, without altering DNA.

Non-integrating . . . without altering DNA . . . and yet . . . Insertions, Deletions, and even CRISPR, for cripes sakes.

What is Gene Therapy

Gene therapy is a technique that modifies a person’s genes to treat or cure disease. Gene therapies can work by several mechanisms:

1. Replacing a disease-causing gene with a healthy copy of the gene

2. Inactivating a disease-causing gene that is not functioning properly

3. Introducing a new or modified gene into the body to help treat a disease
