Actually the answer is a combination of socialism and capitalism and that is what we have been practicing since FDR. Unfortunately Reagan came and that and what he started curtailed our slow but steady progress for a more perfect union. Currently in Europe they are not experiencing the scale of poverty that we are experiencing because their safety nets are much superior than the US. That may not mean much to you but for the richest country in the world that's a disgrace. I believe healthcare for all delivered by the private sector is the best option and why some think a certain class of people should suffer without healthcare because they are poor is amazing.
Now for the Green New Deal one has to believe climate change is a threat to our way of life and it certainly will be even if I may not be around to see it. I have 5 grandchildren who I want to live and enjoy life and want their grandchildren to also enjoy life. Man made climate change is real and the political and human upheavals it will cause will be dramatic. Doing nothing in my mind is not an option. I'd rather go big than have a flaccid response or no response that Republicans propose. Oh and we definitely need to tax the rich much more as well as increase the estate tax substantially.
