you probably missed a step, like going into settings and adding the ETH mainnet network. check this article. it's all in there:

i had a learning curve with this. it had me pretty confused for a good 45 minutes. lol

the "add token" button may be hidden at the bottom. if you scroll in that little window you'll see it. here's another article that (probably) covers your issue:
