No. Pandemics are not all the same; they vary in severity of spread and danger, and can elicit both public over- and under-reactions. COV-19 pandemic is not the same as measles, Spanish flu, HIV, the plague. Your comment is a great example of over-reaction, and illustrates the point.
Folks tend to overreact to regulatory review requirements, out of inexperience usually. "They're manipulating us." The FDA is not manipulating Merck. Merck recently finished testing the drug in early infection cases, got good results this time (previous trial with late infections was not successful), and is now submitting it for EUA. Like with Anavex, nothing is magically instant. Be careful not to overreact. Biotech takes patience.
