By legal definition, no NYSE stock can be a penny stock. Listed stocks cannot be "penny stocks" no matter what price they are on any US Exchange. It only applies to non-Exchange listed stocks under $5 per share.

Yeah Ford was a buck and it was steal at that price. They got dragged down by the rest of the industry but they did not need the money.
