I live in Arizona. There is no cell signal at my home. No 3G, no 4G, no 5G no G of any kind. And a weak signal is 5 miles away.
There is no cable. There is no DSL, only old fashioned twisted pair land lines that are in horrible disrepair. The last time we lost land line service it took Century Link over a month to restore service.
Our only options for internet are dial-up modem (remember that?) and satellite. Our only option for television is satellite.
It has always been this way (well, since the advent of satellite communications ... before that we had dial-up modem internet and 2 broadcast television stations picked up on an antenna).
Cell coverage in my area is only near town. Most of NE nevada has signs that say "no 911 coverage or emergency services" I have satellite internet which is neither fast nor cheap. Television is satellite or streaming only. One company ran better internet to part of the valley, and the result was a boom in real estate sales for people that want the open spaces where they could work from home.
Spending money on infrastructure to create an economic boom isn't a new concept.
You drive from Rome Georgia to Lafayette, Summerville, and then take the back roads over to Dalton, Georgia, I guarantee you that your service will stop quickly. I know this from my driving a car part truck, just a couple of years ago, and because my brother in law lives down there, and it is his favorite topic of conversation.
Obviously you don't know, but you automatically assumed that service was something of a long time ago. Just like many of your comments, just because you live in Georgia does not mean you know anything about Georgia.
I could take you down to Triton, Georgia and even you would not be "white" enough for those residents. Not only is the Confederate Flag displayed, in many places it is the only flag.
