#239581 RE: vinmantoo #239579

A recent fact/ bit of data about Covid is that 1 in 500 Americans have died from Covid.
https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20210915/1-in-500-americans-have-died-covid (this has been carried by a number of media)
AND...obviously, we are not thru this yet, even as there is huge controversies about vaccine mandates, mask mandates, closures, vaccine passports, etc.

Nor do we yet understand the total impact of covid on long term health, below the radar inflammation, long haul issues, the total cost on health economy and personal finance or other sundry losses; house, job, marriage, medical bankruptcy, mental health- etc.

A friend of mine just experienced a breakthrough (he's fully vaccinated). He's old overweight, on various prescription drugs, heavy nsaid user who also drinks on top of that. (I'm not so sure that is is that atypical for Americans)

What might we be experiencing without vaccines?

The controversy may continue on and on but I think that it is finite; more vaccinations are happening. More infections -and thereby natural immunity- (of whatever quality this is) continue, boosters will help some populations, variant specific boosters should be possible AND antivirals are on the way.

Antivirals may provide a bridge to remedy potential variants, the vaccine hesitant or the huge gap in between what public health officials recommend and what some states governance will allow.

What I'm saying is that a successful antiviral may render some of this moot. Even moderately effective anti-virals could make the difference between life and death, not being hospitalized (versus being) or sidestepping a large loss of earnings due to being unable to work -and avoiding that bill for being intubated- for example), etc.

Like polio, this too shall pass. (IMHO) It may pass as quickly and the anti- vaccine pundits or Invermectin users. : )
