If you are into something primarily for the money you aren't going to give up your turf without a fight. That's natural. And that's not taking away from the much good big pharma has done either.

Pharma can’t make money without a patent. Natural products are not eligible for patent protection, so they will synthesize them, patent them, and lobby against the drug in its natural form. Many of these synthesized drugs have side effects not found when the drug is used in its natural form.
