And extrapolating that example into dollars this ICE vehicle using gasoline at $3.50 per gallon and achieving 22.2 mpg, costs 14.6 cents per mile for fuel. The Tesla charges at 14 cents per kWh / 3.91 miles per kWh = 3.6 cents per mile or ~4X less expensive. Of course the Tesla is still using roads for free on the back of ICE vehicles. I can't imagine that will last too much longer.

How long does it take to fill the 22.2 gal gas tank when near empty?

How long does it take to fully charge the 100 Kw battery when nearly depleted?

Therein lies the rub when considering travel over long distances.

Comparing projected vs actual EV adoption curves post 2015 forecasts. Forecasts from majors, OPEC and IEA probably did not differ significantly in 2015.
