I think your assessment of Clem's position is correct. He presented more evidence for what is probably a regular 'ol bear market as the situation cools off.
As a new investor, I am not quite sure what I am hoping for. I've began my investing journey in this weird and crazy pumped market. The money I have invested in various things would like to see the market continue to rise, but in my heart I would like to see the situation pull back. Investing for the long term feels dangerous.
