#151261 RE: alan81 #151260

TSMC already makes the mobileye chips and the NN chips. Rumor has it the latest desktop gaming GPU is coming out of TSMC as well. The number I have heard is TSMC is currently about 25% of INTC product, and they expect that to end up closer to 33% as Intel expands their product portfolio. I don't expect Intel to fabricate X86 at TSMC.

That makes sense since Intel's process is skewed toward HP CPU. Not sure about the percentages.

It is likely Intel will be shipping product from the new 7nm factories in a similar time frame to AMD shipping Genoa (their INTC 7nm comparable product). This assumes Intel sticks to their 7nm schedule and it doesn't slip any more. With over $50B capital on the line, and nowhere to go but 7nm Intel needs to make sure it works!

Where are the new 7nm factories? Sounds like they are a couple of years away if every thing clicks!! Genoa should be on TSM 5 which already exists. Raises the question, why they (Intel) don't fix 10nm first??

All the references to INTC xnm = 1/2 TSM nm seems meaningless till it hits the road in volume. Where does the loyalty to pie in the sky come from?
