The problem is that the medical world, biotech industry, and big pharma's especially for reasons of revenue are not structured and oriented in the prevention of serious illness. Of course much has improved in the field of medical prevention in the last 30 years (anti-smoking lobby, the emphasis on healthy diet etc). Now after the covid crisis where billions have been invested in the prevention of the virus with a vaccine, I hope this will further spur governments to invest in prevention vaccines but Im not too optimistic. My dad was the first MD for the prevention of diseases in The Netherlands in the 80's, back then there was not any notion for the idea at all.

Well in the very long run I see all types of cancer becoming more and more a lifetime treatable infection like HIV was lethal by becoming AIDS and now is a lifetime treatable nonlethal disease.
