Or to clarify... the A/S is basically the treasury. O/S is issued from the A/S. So think of it as putting the shares back in the bank. Or parking the car back in the garage. The shares would no longer be in play.

After Henry completes the share buyback and retires the shares, he will most likely reduce the Authorized Shares as well.
