I do not mean makes basic sense, I mean business sense, regulatory sense or timing sense. Why would they withdaw an announcement at a major conference when all they’d have to do is explain that they will in fact have a presentation at the conference?
First, we’d already know that it was a part of the conference; second, they have withdrawn papers that were publicly announced already. They would likely not change plans and would either say they expect a presentation that should be interesting, at the conference. There would be no reason to delay further because of a Reg FD selective disclosure. And it is a rumor that makes little sense.
Discussing it creates the false impression that people know it happened, when that is not the case.
