It's not a perceived shortage - lumber and wood pulp really are in short supply - cost of TP has almost doubled in the last two years, shocking, but completely due to the lumber shortage. Actually, it's not that we don't have enough trees to harvest, it's that the sawmills don't have the capacity to meet lumber demand - nobody expected the pandemic would lead to hundreds of thousands of people building new decks and rehabbing their houses or putting on additions.
