It's funny, I was at the ASM in CO in 2019. I specifically asked Lebby a similar question about what are the chances of another technology popping up while LWLG was working through all their testing etc.
He mentioned back then that they were of course watching closely what the competition was doing. He mentioned Ring Oscillators and Indium Phosphide being small and polular.
He then went into a dialogue about co-packaging being the newest trend to watch. At the time of course I was very concerned with what I was hearing since I only wanted to hear LWLG had this next generation of Modulators on lock down. Having to be partnered with other companies to be a part of that next technology worried me.
Now almost 2 years later with a better understanding of where the industry is heading with co-packaged optics, it all comes together nicely. Especially with what Gelsinger (CEO Intel) was saying this week on CNBC about Co-Optition.
