It's also not legal to use the market maker short selling exemption to flip shares back and forth to manipulate price. But what is extremely alarming here is that the tape appears to have been "reconstructed" 3 hours after market close, with the 43 million shares hitting the tape as a SINGLE BUY at 7 pm, and suddenly showing up in the first candle of AH trading, which was green, and showed 48 million in volume. Meanwhile, the big red candle we all saw tank the price just prior to close with 48 million in volume, has had its volume reduced to 1.9 million shares.
Lots of speculation to be had here. Fat finger trade. Algo glitch. Hedge fund became unhinged, not to mention that a 43 million trade should have had a much bigger impact either side. SEC and DTCC owe us some answers for this highly suspicious event. Meanwhile, the "financial media" is strangely silent.
