Since Jane Street is a Lead Market Maker, (not a regular MM) I think its main goal is to prevent manipulation and ensure liquidity. It is showing up on other boards, but seems to be appearing only on those boards where it’s the registered broker/dealer (Jane’s current security list is provided via www.otcmarkets.com and select “pink current” and “common stock” from the drop down.)
