So what happens if you naked short a stock that issues a dividend? What if there are billions of naked shares of paychest dating prior to the dividend issue of XMET in 2006?
Would that mean the MM stuck in the short position needs to procure XMET to complete the transaction so whomever bought the shares was made whole when they cover?
If not no big deal. We have a clean shell. If they do how high would it drive the price of XMET?
Again, I don’t pretend to understand all the intricacies but GME was a major squeeze... not a trap.
