[OT]—Razor blades do not become ineffective from mechanical wear; rather, they degrade chemically from the formation of oxide coatings.
By soaking a used blade in 20% alcohol for approximately four hours and then wiping it dry and coating it with a drop of mineral oil, a blade can remain effective for about a month, rather than a few days. I’ve been doing this for several years, cutting my razor-blade usage by 90%.
It would be bad news for PG if everyone knew this, which is one reason I’m not long the stock!
