How long does a independent study usually take


If by "independent" you mean an IST (Investigator Sponsored Trial, not run by a company but by some research organization), they tend to run long.

The main reason is that they are often not opening additional sites. While BMY or MRK could run something like the UCLA combo trial in about 2 years, UCLA will take about 4 years.

Somebody once said all BP has to offer is money. But money does matter, a lot.
