you might find around half a dozen Repub senators that would immediately find that there would be an advantage politically to convicting the orangeclown in the impeachment process - those that are thinking of running for President in 2024 and would have effectively eliminated their top competitor from being able to run for office

Well we know he won't resign and Pence is now talking to mother about what he needs to do.

Pence isn't the brightest politician. He could've come out of this as the Returdican Party leader. Just ride the momentum, and do the right thing... remove Drumpf from office. The Turtle and others would've rallied to the move. As a means to help the party to escape the insanity of the past 4 yrs. Instead he's scared of a backlash ... from who? He'll be another Palin in the near future. Out of sight, out of mind.

A possible avenue is to have the House delay referring the article of impeachment. The excuse being Congress needs to address Covid, and the economy. Not to mention a slew of new cabinet appointees. In the meantime, the Manhattan DA gets busy. Along with Garland by then confirmed, possibly finding more Drumpf corruption. Then one can dare any of the Senate Returdicans to not vote for conviction. As in finish Drumpf off.
