At this point, there probably is no ideal answer. We'll proceed down a path which calls for the world population to be vaccinated and safe, effective Tx developed for those that get the disease anyway.
I suspect that if most governments had a "do-over", they'd take Wu-Han's approach. Complete absolute lock down for a month and iron clad closure of the borders. For a lot less cost than the governments have incurred and will incur, the problem could have been prevented with governments paying all costs, preventing business or personal bankruptcies, job losses, or other economic disasters.
The Chinese have had experience, knew what had to be done; and had the ability to do it. None of the rest of the world knew then what had to be done, and most of the world still wouldn't do it today.
If this thread is representative of beliefs in the USA, there are still large portions of the population that believe Covid doesn't exist.
Best wishes for Christmas and the coming year. Hopefully by this time next year Covid will be nothing more than a bad memory.
