540540 is right, they can "borrow" your shares and short against you. They cannot, if you have a sale order in, for say $5.00/share. Put in sell orders on all your stocks to prevent them from borrowing your shares you have. Then they can't borrow!! Later, you can change or lower the sale-price if you really get ready to sell them!!
