That isn't accurate - not even close.

"540540 is right, they can "borrow" your shares and short against you. They cannot, if you have a sale order in, for say $5.00/share. Put in sell orders on all your stocks to prevent them from borrowing your shares you have. Then they can't borrow!! Later, you can change or lower the sale-price if you really get ready to sell them!!"

99+% of OTCM investors have cash accounts - which the broker can't use to borrow shares to short - they can only borrow shares from a margin account.

im sorry, but this is incorrect. its an old myth that has been proven wrong.

when you sign up for your broker account, your agreeing to lend out shares.

now certain brokers like etrade/think or swim/etc CAN NOT short OTC stocks, not because they CANT...but because they dont allow it per their internal policies.
