If Alito wants reform, let's start with making the term for a Supreme 10 yrs, instead of for life. As in 1/2 a generation in time.
And a generation isn't 20 years; it's 30 years.
Wrong. Are you going to say someone born in the early 1920s had the same life experiences (as a generation) as someone born in the 1940s? Or that someone born in 1940 had the same life experiences as someone born in 1968? In today's faster world of changes, it's a challenge to keep 20 yrs as a generation. When did the post WW2 baby boom being, and end?
As for unintended consequences, no more than today. What happened with Ginsburg, or other Supremes which died? Answer: Politics.
Let's say one expands the court. Let's make triple the size with the same count in each as there is today. In a circuit court if the decision goes against you, there is always the Supreme court. So, should one have the option of appealing a SC decision? As in ask for a different group of Supremes to consider the appeal? One could also have politics at play in those kinds of situations. Also the more dilutive the court becomes, the more like a nut like Alito will carry the day.
