No, this continuation patent grant reverts back to Feb 2003, Which means, depending on something technical, it either goes to feb 2023 or feb 2024. The point is it protects the new claims, and remember, they have other patents with later expirations.


This is the core patent on Direct if I have it right.

Zero chance of having Direct approved by then. So what value?

ahh yes i'm just exploring the different types of continuation patent. I'm wondering why they did this from a strategic point of view. I wonder why didn't they include this as a claim to start with given it was already supported by data in the application (i.e. not a continuation in part by the look of it).
