McConnell should be very careful as to what he is doing.

Right now the SCOTUS has 9 justices. There is nothing in the Constitution that says 9 is a fixed number.

If McConnell rams through a replacement for RBG then if the Dems win the WH and the senate then all bets are off.

That 9 could become 15.
