In my county direct contacts of those that test positive and yet still asymptomatic are able to be tested. That is a big improvement in testing where you had to be sick enough to be admitted before you get tested 2 months ago.
Yes, that is light years ahead of where we were and is indeed good news.
The labs are reopening at Berkeley with restrictions on how many people can be in at one time, people need to be widely spaced in the labs, common rooms can only have one person at a time in it, everyone wears masks and gloves all day too. I decided to take late shift so I am either working alone or maybe have a 1hr-2hr overlap with 1 or 2 people. I wash my gloves with ethanol before and after touching anything no on my bench. We also get saliva tests for the virus every two weeks so that people who are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic can get identified quickly and limit potential spread. I feel extremely lucky to be able to work under those conditions. We should be striving to make everyone's work place as safe as possible and people tested frequently although obviously it won't look like my workplace.
