A POSA with lowest skill in the art would know that every TG lowering therapy channels the TG breakdown into lipoprotein particles enriched in LDL, thereby RAISING LDL. I think JL and others have posted nice summaries of the biology. All the more important to recognize the LDL raising perils when treating TG's >500 mg/dl in the context of the MARINE indication and patents.
This is why all attempts to modify risk with other TG lowering agents like Lovaza failed. (It so happened that EPA does way way more than just reduce TG enriched particles and not raising LDL... this was figured out after R-IT not before.)
