It didn't take long for gas lines to form from coast to coast. - Prior to that, most of us never gave thought to the numbers/letters on our license plate - it suddenly meant what day of the week we could buy gasoline...It also gave rise to Japans entry into U.S. consumers' auto buying habits - with fits and starts, Japan began to eat our lunch with better mpg autos.
