This is nonsense. Do you really expect everyone to use common sense? There will be lots of fools who would live their life as if NO ONE was infected. Look up the stories and look at the pictures of the stay-at-home protesters in Marlyland, Ohio and Michigan. Do they look like they're practicing social distancing? If you are so trusting of human behavior and believe that all it takes is self control to reduce infections then you must believe that laws, police, courts and prisons are unnecessary and all it takes is common sense and self control and bingo...no more crime.
On the other hand if we had enough testing capacity, letting up on the stay-at-home restrictions would make more sense. Testing would be the police that would keep the fools in check. If we had the capacity to do 1M tests per day instead of only 160K, I would feel a lot more confident that a second wave of infections could be avoided. We need to at least get to the level of testing where we're testing those who who have been exposed + random testing of anyone who is asymptomatic instead of just those who have symptoms.
