I have the same questions. Why bother to have patents approved.

You guys ever hear of the PTAB aka the patent death squad? This board has little experience in patent enforcement or lackthereof. They are allowed to invalidate patents at pretty much will. These patent issues are nothing new, but new to the people on this board. There are serious issues with our system when it comes to patents. People here are just realizing this fact.

This is the basic issue I have....how can the "results"
from a study of 56 overweight Aussies, overseen by the
"Royal Perth Hospital", which used an olive oil placebo
be the "prior knowledge" used to negate patents issued
by the United States Patent Office?

Should Trump close the FDA and the US Patent Office?

This ruling means patents mean nothing!
