NYC hospitals are about to be overwhelmed
Docs and nurses don’t have enough personal protection gear
People with other life threatening issues will be competing for medical resources . Anyone who thinks this is the flu is as close to an idiot as you will find.

The number of cases is just a symptom ... more likely (hopefully) the total number of deaths will not the exceed the number of deaths due to flu … but that is not a point. A lot of event (e.g. 09/11) had less death than the flu …. but it does not mean it was not serious.

I do not say it will but it could be "out of control" if will not be taken really seriously … unfortunately a lot of stupid (e.g. see beaches of Florida or the view by the "ass renovator") still downgrading the importance of it.

I could quote myself

The problem is not the deaths or the mortality rate. These are not the primary reason of the action, quarantine, etc. The number of infected people in need of care could quickly overloads and paralyzes the health system.
What can be achieved with quarantine, travel restrictions, ban on mass events, school closures, and other methods familiar from the news: even if the total number of people infected may not decrease, the epidemic will spread over time and will not have as many patients at one time, will not well beyond the capacity of health care. (Furthermore, the researchers - working on developing the vaccine - will have more time.)

Meanwhile most of the deaths - in case of simple flu - could not be avoided, in tis case - at least some - could be … if the necessary action will be made … ass renovators will shut up.

Best,
G
