It’s the mortality rate that causes panic. Flu’s mortality rate is probably way higher than reported. We tell people all the time they have the flu without testing for it and the flu diagnoses goes in the chart even though they had something else...that does not kill them. This is because until 2019 the rapid flu test was a coin toss. While the experts have ridiculed trumps estimate that the mortality rate is probably 1% or less...I honestly agree with him. WE HAVE NOT, STILL CAN NOT test people with cough and cold symptoms unless they licked someone with documented COVID-19. It’s ridiculous. But I honestly believe this is now endemic everywhere and the pandemic announcement should have already been put out. We all know it. Expect markets to recover and life to go on in the next three weeks. Cause by then everyone will realize just how prevalent it already is. And most never knew they had it. Three weeks of pain. Seasonal flu doesn't change prescriber/patient behavior like COV 19 does. Restingzebra is kind enough to bring us his personal experience:
"FWIW: I manage my father-in-laws health care and I received a call from his PCP last week suggesting we reschedule his 6 month visit because of the virus/flu. I also cancelled another scheduled visit and was told they had numerous cancellations. Crowded doctor's offices are not advisable for non-acute patients."
