Falconer - What a joy it is to read your analysis! Sounds very positive that Anavex 2-73 will be tested sometime soon for a disease that has been untouchable for too long, ie, Multiple Sclerosis! God Bless Anavex and all true believers. Our day is coming, and not soon enough!

Perhaps helping convince others can be found in
N, N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT).

Hallucinogens have been studied heavily for about 60 years. Their medicinal effects have been know for thousands of years. DMT in particular is a sigma 1 receptor agonist (among others).

DMT is found occurring in nature in both plants and animals.
There are known therapeutic effects - improved memory, anti depressive, anti-addiction.
What I view as important is that there is a naturally occurring molecule similar in molecular size and bonding that is found in nature and on some levels produces similar therapeutic effects. A2-73 tweeks what's bad (seems to eliminate the nausea, panic and tripping that may occur) and keeps the good.
There is a lot more research being performed with DMT because of the Sigma1 activation, which seems to be getting a lot of attention from a number of different angles.

And I guess my point to this is that there is a lot more evidence not just from Anavex research that says we are on the right track.

Falconer66a,
Thank you once again for your many contributions to all longs on this board. You have a great talent for making the complex understandable to those of us not as familiar with the implications of the science we have invested in, and I, for one, look forward to your next thoughtful scribes.

If I may ask, do you see any indication(s) that any of Anavex molecules could be useful in successfully treating BiPolar Disorder? I ask, because a close family member has been recently diagnosed and his genome is such that his body has difficulties in metabolizing certain available drugs that have proven successful in others.

I’m hoping that A-273 could be cross prescribed in the near future for our ailing loved one. TIA
