“Do the math.” I did- your figuring doesn’t add up. Apples to oranges.
The math:
1) longest planned period between refills is generally 3 months (ie provide 3 month supply as the ‘fill’). My guess is the real average is closer to 2 months, since some people still get monthly (re)fills. But for now I’ll go with three month.
2) new prescriptions for chronic treatments are generally 12 months. This, combined with #1 above means that with no dropouts there should be as many refills as the sum total of new prescriptions 3 mo ago plus 6 mo ago plus 9 mo ago.
3) refills on Nov 15 were 41k, historical new prescription were: Aug - 31k, May - 28k, Feb - 18k. A total of 77k.
Thus, over a year long prescription almost 1/2 dropped out.
