You are correct. This is exactly the context of how Kim conveyed it...

Attending the meeting left little doubt that Kim was not lowering expectations, but instead praising Jon. If Jon is actually able to exceed Kim's goals, Kim would be thrilled.

Kim was not qualifying Jon's statement. But praising him for maybe being able to do better than what was expected.

The boss sets out realistic goals and, if possible within reason, the employee is able to exceed that goal, Great!

Okay, Here is speculation on my part,

I highly doubt Kim or Jon would tell any potential customers, like Polartec, a date sooner than they realistically expect.
So I would guess that the earliest any customer would expect any product might be late Q2 of 2020.

Anything sooner than that would be a bonus.
