Plus guess who works at Statoil? Norwegians. Oil & gas yobbs are some of the highest paying around. Axe what a undergrad petroleum or chemical engineer starts at in the USA. This 'country' of Norway has HALF the population of the Chicago metro area.

In low-tax Houston, the entry level yobb with a Ch.E. bachelor's degree is $96,000. Nott counting bonus, stock options, and 6% base salary rate company 401(k) contributions. And medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, Employee Assistance Program, etc.

Right ~OUTTa collitch. At age 21.

Anyone in the oil and gas biz should have a shit-eating grin. Happy? Hell, they're ecstatic.

Stat, generates over $100 Billion USD in revenue a year. But Stat is not isolated to Norway.

Dear spouse was on the team on a $5 Billion M&A between Stat and a NASDAQ listed (actually listed, not uplisted) company.

I feel like a junior, biggest deals I have done was GM, Disney and ATT, all three $250 million, but that was the early 90s. I did a GM Secondary, ATT M&A for Latin American markets, and unfortunately Euro Diz IPO. Oh well, that was my short stint in Capital Markets.

As Janice says, its not the weather, it is the clothes, but when I went back house hunting a year ago, 7* below zero reminded me why I don't want to move back. And then a friend of mine for 25 years reminded me he pays $65,000 in property taxes, I was sold.
