It seems from reading the Shareholder Letter they have actual working display as of Feb that is being shown off to OEM's. If this is the case actual great news may be just ahead. See 2nd Paragraph.
Thankful that India situation continues to solidify QMC's bright future. Yesterdays article was insightful and eye opening in regards to the Quantum leap QMC has made in innovation. 3 Complete Paragraphs.
No, they didn't measure >91% Rec. 2020; that wouldn't be possible without a working display. Rather. they calculated that >91% Rec. 2020 was theoretically possible given the performance specs of a blue LED and their red and green QDs.
In no display is blue light converted to red and green by the color filters. The color filters take the whiteish light from whatever source in the backlight and filter it to the three primaries. The peak wavelengths and purity of the light that makes it through is what determines the colorspace that can be rendered.
Just trying to get across the basic idea that I believe that QMC's announcement in Nov was that they measured >91% Rec2020 spectrum generated by the LEDs alone and not from the front of a display's screen.
All blue LEDs in the BLU needs some of the blue light converted by the color filters in the front of the screen to the other two primaries.
QMC is generating all three primary colors in the BLU before the light passes through the LGP, LCD windows and color filters, hence the basic idea of the "color passing through" the display internals.
