JL “invented” the term “judge”—closest I got was what today is an ALJ in the PTO; earlier I had authored many opinions bearing the name of real judges sitting on a Federal appellate court in D.C., doing only(for 10 years) what one of those actual judges frankly called acting as a “de facto” judge. End of story: I never was nominated by the President nor confirmed by the Senate for positions I held over 25 years in federal gov’t.
