Is this a summary number for all patients in the trial? If so, the last patients to enroll in the trial really moved the bar substantially. Such a movement caused by 31 people out of over 300 might suggest that nearly all of them are still alive.
As I see it, Dr. Liau didn't unblind the trial to say this as no differentiation is being made between those on the drug, and those in the control group, but once unblinded, where the control can be differentiated from those who received the drug initially, as well as those who crossed over, the number should grow substantially more.
If I'm incorrect, and this is purely a look at the last patients, it's still significant, but I believe the number being cited would be for the entire trial, which remains blinded.
