He didn't come out of retirement for interactive video technology. He came out to ride the American Idol wave by bridging music auditions and sharing with social media via a kiosk that was in shopping malls.
Then when that failed to work (yes I said failed-sorry) he pivoted to what we are seeing now.
He was under the gun to do something and this is the silver lining he saw in the clouds. If anyone can make this work, he can, but his past success is by no means a guarantee, as the prior BBooth kiosk venture shows.
