? optimum range for EPA/AA...Highly theoretical..You want inflammation to ward off microbes and environmental toxins...you want to lower inflammation to slow down aging (degeneration)..In the USA an EPA/AA of one to one and a half looks good...

The receptors are chemicals themselves COX receptors are Cyclooxygenase and LOX are Lipoxygenase...These are integrated into the cell membrane..After activation they are replaced with new receptors..This is an ongoing day by by day process..For example Aspirin interacts with COX receptor producing prostaglandins...The receptor is "destroyed" but is replaced by another receptor..

One way to look at it is AA is the natural fit, but EPA moderates inflammation if it is present and reaches the receptor first.
