There are buying the assets necessary to continue in the business/market...otherwise they wouldn't buy them. They have value.

Nobody is arguing that.

What they aren't buying is the company or legal entity...which would require assuming the liabilities to the debt holders, creditors and equity holders.

The liabilities EXCEED the assets...which is why they are where they are.

So it is going through a bankruptcy liquidation to sort out which creditors get paid from the asset sale and which don't.

This is Bankruptcy 101 type stuff.

And the hard reality is that common equity holders of the company are at the absolute bottom of the food chain.

When it gets to a "liquidation" they are screwed...as are a good portion of the unsecured creditors which are even two steps in line ahead of common equity.

It just is what it is.
