All credit goes to watch. Turns out it is a case of mistaken identity. For some reason it appears that the Yahoo algorithm responsible for collecting historical prices picks up the quote for the SPCL ticker on the Dhaka Stock Exchange instead of the quote for SPCL on the OTC.
