Short answer is nobody yet knows conclusively.

Theories are beginning to emerge.

This French doctor suggests that that the ICI drug can actually activate immunosupressive regulatory T-cells (Tregs).

But this is why I hold the FDA culpable, for rushing these ICI's to the market, giving Accelerated Approval frequently, especially Keytruda, before safety is established.
